What's Doing in Wallingford

Dear friends,

Greetings! I would like to take this opportunity to bring you all up to date on some things that have been happening here at Wilson Oil and Propane lately.

This year we expanded our relationship with Susan G. Komen for the Cure, which is the single largest source of nonprofit funding in the fight against breast cancer. Our pink fuel trucks have already raised $5,000 for the cause, and our latest event, the Fueled Up and Fired Up 5K Challenge on Oct. 22, generated more than $10,000.

Half of the money will be donated to Susan G. Komen for the Cure and half to the Nether Providence Township First Responders.

Separately, Wilson Oil and Propane was presented with the prestigious Carrier President’s Award at a special ceremony in March. I am personally gratified by this honor, especially because it is given only to Carrier dealers who display a particular focus on customer satisfaction.

According to Carrier, winners of this award are chosen because they “strive to provide personal
follow-up and quick knowledgeable solutions to [their customers’] home comfort problems.”

Finally, as winter arrives, I want you to know that you can count on all of us here at Wilson Oil and Propane to keep you and your family warm and safe.

Happy New Year!

Warmly,

David O’Connell
Generator Envy

All it takes is one power outage and everyone starts getting generator envy — the feeling you get when your neighbor’s power stays on when yours goes off. A lot of people experienced generator envy this past summer and fall.

It seems like we are seeing more extreme weather events than ever, and the power outages that come with them. This is making the idea of whole-house backup generators very popular.

A whole-house generator is not the same as the gasoline-powered portable generators you can buy in stores. First, it’s powered by propane or natural gas, and second, it has the capacity to supply power not only for the essentials (lights, heat, a/c, refrigerators), but to every circuit in the home.

Generator envy, while not attractive, is certainly understandable. After all, who wants to go without power for hours or even days? Avoid this fate — and generator envy — with a whole-house backup generator installed by our expert technicians.

Please call us today to learn more.

A "Run" Time Was Had By All

On Oct. 22, Wilson Oil and Propane sponsored the first Fueled Up and Fired Up 5K Challenge, raising more than $10,000 in donations and pledges for two great causes: Susan G. Komen for the Cure and Nether Providence Township First Responders.

In addition to the 5K run, there were lots of activities and attractions for families—a “fun run,” face painting, fire trucks, a raffle and more. More than 300 people turned out for the fun.

Thank you to all the runners and everyone who came out to support this event. We look forward to seeing all of you again next year!

Step 1 to Lower your Energy Costs
Everyone is looking for ways to save — especially in this economy. This is probably why our home performance energy audit has become one of our most popular services.

Here are answers to common questions about this service.

Q: What does “home performance” mean?

A: Home performance is a term used to describe how effectively and efficiently your home uses energy for heating and cooling.

Home performance isn’t an isolated measure of one or two aspects of your home’s efficiency;
it is a “top-to-bottom” evaluation of your entire home as a system.

The process of improving home performance begins with a comprehensive home energy audit conducted by one of our specially trained energy advisors. The audit identifies areas of excessive energy consumption, as well as health and comfort issues — and the reasons for them — including things like air leaks, insufficient insulation, defective ducts or excess moisture.

Q: What do you look at when you do a home energy audit?

A: The first thing we do is interview you. Only you can tell us things like whether any rooms feel clammy when the a/c is on, or if any parts of the house need to be dusted more than others.

The next step is an inspection of your heating and cooling equipment. Our comfort consultant will visually inspect your equipment for signs of deterioration, improper installation or insufficient maintenance.

Next, we’ll conduct a blower door test, which will show us how much air is moving throughout the home vs. how much should be (based on the volume of the home). We use the results of the blower door test to set one of our goals for improving performance.

Finally, we’ll do a complete inspection of your insulation. After we finish the tests, we’ll explain the findings to you and give you a prioritized plan of recommended improvements.

Q: If the audit finds problems, how do I fix them?

A: Some items you can probably handle yourself, but others will require a professional. Don’t worry: if it is not something that we do, we can recommend a local expert you can trust to do the job. If you make the recommended improvements, you can expect to save a significant amount on your energy costs — in some cases, as much as 25%! Return the reply card or go to WilsonOilAndPropane.com for more information.

An energy audit normally costs $399, or $299 for Wilson customers. Right now we are offering this service for 50% off the customer price— just $149 if you call us today!
